Research, AI, Statistics & Scientific Writing Camp for Young Researchers

18-22 July, 2026

Introduction

The CROSSTALK LAB Research, AI, Statistics & Scientific Writing Camp is a focused, hands-on 5-day program designed for undergraduate students, graduate students, and early-career researchers who want to strengthen their research skills, improve their scientific writing, use AI responsibly, understand statistics basics, and communicate their work with confidence.

This camp introduces participants to the foundations of scientific research, scientific writing, responsible AI use, statistics basics, and research presentation skills. Through practical exercises, guided activities, and interactive sessions, participants will learn how to move from a research idea to a clearer question, stronger design, better writing, and more confident academic communication.

Who Is This Camp For?

  • Undergraduate students working on research projects

  • Graduate students preparing theses, dissertations, proposals, or manuscripts

  • Early-career researchers who want to strengthen their research foundation

  • Medical, health, biomedical, engineering, social science, business, and interdisciplinary researchers

  • Researchers who want to improve scientific writing, article reading, presentation skills, statistics basics, and responsible AI use

What Students Will Learn

  • Understand how scientific research works and how strong research ideas are developed

  • Identify research problems and turn them into clear research questions

  • Use frameworks such as FINER and PICO to structure research ideas

  • Understand common research designs and how to choose the most suitable design

  • Read and critically analyze scientific articles

  • Recognize different types of scientific writing and choose the best writing format for their research question

  • Use AI tools responsibly in research planning, writing, editing, and academic communication

  • Understand basic statistical concepts needed for research

  • Recognize types of variables, descriptive statistics, p-values, confidence intervals, and statistical tests

  • Communicate research ideas clearly through academic presentations

Program at a Glance

Day 1

Building Blocks of Scientific Research

What research is, types of research, where research ideas come from, how knowledge is built, and how students can start thinking like researchers.

Day 2

Scientific Writing & Article Analysis

Types of scientific writing, how to read and critically analyze a scientific article, how to connect research questions with the right type of academic writing, and how to structure ideas clearly for research papers, reports, reviews, and university-level writing.
